Friday Five

Channeling my inner child
I'm not making any resolutions this year, but it's always noteworthy to step back and take a moment to reflect on the going ons of the past year.

The way I see it, tere's two ways of looking at it. The first week after the end of the holiday season is either like a huge reality crash post-holiday sugar rush, or the first week of the start of the new year is exciting for the fresh start it offers. Glass half empty or glass half full?

In 2016 I started my final semester of law school, traveled to Costa Rica with friends, celebrated every 10 days during the last 100 days of the semester, participated in my school's community development clinic overseeing the legal matters of my three clients small businesses, attended my first law school wedding, planned our Barrister's ball, graduated and received my JD, traveled to Put-in-Bay with friends, dyed my hair purple (!), hosted Saini for Memorial Day weekend, spent a summer in South Bend, moved out of the first apartment I lived on my own in the town I'll always remember fondly of my three years there, said goodbye to the many people who made that place home for me, moved back to my parents house to my little hometown without a zip code, sat for the bar exam, had a NYC staycation, visited Saini in VA, started my first big girl legal job, went to the Hunt, had a law school reunion at a football home game, traveled to Albany, NY and Williamsburg, VA with my family, and restudied for the bar exam.

These were the highlights, the lowlights, and the most memorable moments of my 2016.

Who knows where the next year will take me (although I know where I want it to), but a year from now I wonder how I'll feel writing a sentence beginning with "In 2017 I...", what I would have accomplished, who I would have seen, and where I would have gone.

Cheers to 2016 and all the places it took us, and cheers to 2017 and all the places it will take us.
