Topping my life bucket list (summer edition here!) is to attend the triumvirate of horse races: the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness Stakes, and the Belmont Stakes. While the Derby holds the most allure for me, it was still exciting to be able to go to the Belmont this past weekend!
I decided to save a big, floppy hat for whenever the occasion arises that will bring me to the Derby, but I knew the Belmont would give me the perfect opportunity to wear one of my shift dresses I usually reserve for work (made a little more summer appropriate with the addition of a seersucker blazer).
I wasn't able to take the actual outfit pictures at the race, so I did that beforehand on my brother's roof. We had a delicious Spanish brunch with a handful of friends and then spent the rest of the afternoon at the races. I didn't exactly see much of the race itself (I'm short!), but the crowds went wild when American Pharoah won the race sealing the Triple Crown.
The Belmont was a great introduction to horse races, and I'm already looking forward to whenever the time comes for the next one!
