Why "The Palace Within My Dreams"?

I didn't want to name this blog something cliche, mainstream, or too contemporary. I wanted something that could transcend any time or phase in my life so that this blog wouldn't be something I could easily outgrow. Instead, I wanted it to grow with me. Fitting that I would choose lyrics from a current 2014 hit song then, right? But, Lorde's lyrics in Team were so fitting. It speaks to the dreamer in me. It speaks to the message of what I want for this blog.

We live in cities you'll never see on screen
Not very pretty, but we sure know how to run things
Living in ruins of a palace within my dreams

And you know, we're on each other's team

I live in a La La Land where I constantly daydream. Maybe my dreams won't translate into real life. Maybe they will. All I really know is that for now, while I'm on that path, I live in the ruins of a palace with my dreams. My life is not quintissential. It may seem picturesque on the outside, but inside there are cracks in the foundation and chips in the facade. But there's beauty in imperfection, right? Because anything worth fighting for couldn't have ever been too perfect.

Now, I still don't know exactly for what it is I'm dreaming. But if you're willing to take that journey with me, maybe we can find out together.
